Removing Hot Spot From Wood Table
Although long-lasting, wood tables may experience blemishes. Hot spots, for example, form when hot items affect the wood¡¯s surface and produce white marks on tables. Hot pizza boxes, cookware and irons are typically responsible for hot spots on wood tables. The whiter these spots, the more severely damaged wood tables are. Fortunately, hot spots are usually removable and wood tables can be restored.
Step 1
Moisten a cloth sparingly with water. Wipe the spotted portion of wood to remove any grime.
Step 2
Squeeze 1 tablespoon of ordinary white toothpaste into a bowl. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the toothpaste using a spoon.
Step 3
Dip 0000-grade steel wool in the toothpaste mixture. Rub the mixture over the hot spot, following the wood¡¯s grain lines.
Step 4
Continue rubbing the toothpaste mixture over the hot spot until the white blotch disappears. Prepare additional paste, if necessary.
Step 5
Moisten another cloth sparingly with water. Wipe the mixture off the table.
Step 6
Wipe the wood with a towel. Eliminate all moisture from the table.
