Some may not consider spilled alcohol a means for concern. Cleaning spilled alcohol from surfaces like vinyl flooring is usually easy. A little damp mopping and the problem is solved. However, alcohol spills or drips on wood flooring and furniture may present a problem. Even a small spill will break down a portion of the surface coat. In fact, rubbing alcohol is used to strip old varnishes and waxes. Accordingly, a slight repair of the wax coating over wood is a necessary part of this small cleaning project.

Soak up any spilled rubbing alcohol with a rag or paper towel. Wipe the area well using a soft sponge damp with water.

Wait one hour for the area to dry completely.

Apply a quarter-sized dollop of carnauba wax to a soft rag. Spread it evenly over the area where the alcohol spilled.

Buff the floor by hand using a soft cloth. Apply additional wax and buff until the stain is gone.
